Depending on your specialty - there are quite a few hair extension options to choose for your salon. A simple list of hair extension types you can offer and seek supply for.
Wefted, Weaved, Hair Extension Weaves
A wefted a pleated curtain of hair with hair attached to the base of the spine running remy.
Hot tip! With a confusion regarding the word remy in the industry. It just means that the hair strand is running from root to end in the right direction - if your hair extensions aren't remy - they will matte up and be unwearable immediately after your first wash and wear them. All hair extensions must be remy. Period.
Weaved hair extensions can be hand made (will write more on the difference later on in another post ) or machine made as well.
Tape Extensions
Sitting around 1- 2 inches wide a tape extensions sits in a similar design to a weave however is bonded through the spine using tape. 2 pieces emerge together to secure the hair in a bond that extensions the hair in that section
Single Bonded
Single bonded hair extensions are a small bundle of hair (weighing 1 gram) With a bonded I-tip or come in U-tips as well. They can be installed using a heated iron, fusing them to the hair or is also performed using a bead to clamp them at the base of the attachment.
Hairpieces, Wigs and Clip in Extensions
Non- permanent hair extensions or hair coverings. Clip in and clip out for special occasions and great for people who don't want to wear their hair extensions every day or just cant due to their lifestyle.
So... What hair extension method is your choice? Will you specialise in just one method - or are you opting for a few different methods in your business?
There are pros and cons to all the methods I've mentioned and will talk more about them later.
